Kona Low Storm Update
Share
As many of you have heard, it flooded in Hawaii recently. Maui and Oahu were hit the hardest, but there was some damage on the Big Island as well. Much of the damage occurred on the west side of the island in areas of natural drainage. When it rains high on the mountain, the water has to go somewhere. During normal rains it gets absorbed back into the land, but this storm dropped so much rain in such a short time that it started flowing down a few of the drainage areas to the ocean. This happens from time to time, but never this intensely.
One of those drainage systems runs right through our farm. We lost a significant amount of soil, had a large portion of the west fence washed away, and almost lost the footbridge. We did lose a section of the driveway, and our water line was severed. While it rained we had no utility power and lost our cable internet. Fortunately, we'd installed fiber with satellite backup, so we were able to stay connected through the intense three-day storm. We also have solar and a generator that kept us powered the entire time.
Now that the storm has passed — it's time to sell some coffee! We just got the first batch of the 2025 crop back from the dry mill with our new roast profiles, and we could not be more excited to share them with you.
While we get the website updated and our new labels ordered, how about a deal on our estate coffee? Yes, everyone loves a sale! Enjoy $10 off a large bag or $5 off a small bag. You'll also get the old shipping rates, as I haven't updated them in a very long time. I'll get to that. First — new labels!
If you order before April 10th, I'll get your order in the mail the same day. I'll be at The World of Coffee in San Diego from Thursday, April 10th through Monday, April 13th, so any remaining orders will be fulfilled after I return. Coupons are good through April 18th.
