Rainy Day Activities in Kona

The Island of Hawaii has 8 of the world's 11 microclimates. This is good for those days when it is raining in Hilo and sunny in Kona. But what about those days when it is raining over the entire island. What can you do? Here are 5 ideas for rainy day activities in Kona.

Thrift Shopping in Captain Cook

This may not be the dryest form of entertainment but it is great for slightly overcast days. I would strongly recommend a cu of coffee at Kaya's if you do decide to hunt for treasures in South Kona/Captain Cook.

Watching a Movie at Regal Makalapua or Keauhou

Watching a movie while in Kona may not be top on your list of fun, but it is a great way to spend a few hours while you wait for the sun. Makalapua is in the heart of Kona and Keauhou is further south near Keauhou Bay.

Hawaii Keiki Museum

I would recommend this activity even if it isn't rainy. This museum is a great place to take your kids to learn about Hawaii and science. There are a ton of fun activities and a great gift shop. Put it on your must see list.

Arcade Games at Fun Factory

Kids and those young at heart will love this cute little arcade in the heart of Kona in the Kona Coast Shopping Center. Great for a break from the hot sun or to escape the rain. Located close to KTA, Safeway and CVS.

Bowling at KB Extreme

Who desn't love bowling? This is a fun activity to entertain the whole family after a fun day at the beach. There is a small arcade, a good place for food and a bar for those who need a drink after too much time in the sun.
