Best Deals in Kona - Day 2 Kailua Pier Mountain Thunder Makaula - O'oma Trail
Day 2 in the Deals of Kona Series starts at Paradise Bakery. Absolutely the best malasadas and donuts on the west side. They open at 7am and it is worth it to be there early. They are open until sold out or 3pm, usually sold out. Everything is good but the giant cinnamon rolls are a great deal to split with a friend. Grab a cup of coffee and head to Kailua-Kona Village.
A great place to see dolphins is at the King Kam Beach and the Kona Pier. If you are a strong wimmer, start by exploring the Ironman Swim Course to get an idea what it is like for those amazing athletes. If you are not a strong swimmer I recommend renting a paddleboard from Ali'i Rentals for $19.95 per hour.
After a fun morning at the Pier and King Kam beach, grab lunch at Broke Da Mouth. Get the Kalua Pork Regular plate for $16.99 and spit it with a friend. It is a Hawaiian favorite and a must try while visiting.
Spend the afternoon out of the sun taking a coffee tour or hiking in the clouds. Or both. Mountain Thunder is located up Kaloko and is in a completely different climate than the pier. After the tour take a nice hike in the clouds at Makaula - O'oma Trail.
For dinner grab Honey Walnut Shrimp Plate from Fireart Cuisine to go and head to Honl's to catch sunset.
As always, if you want a great place to stay, there are affordable options at Guard Well Farm. Check out the calendar for the Tiny Home and Coffee Stay to see availability and contact us for direct booking rates.
