One of the best parts of Hawaii is it's history. Day three must include a trip to Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park. Commonly refered to as Place of Refuge it was a sanctuary for those who were accused of committing Kapu, a death sentence. Plan to hike the 1871 Trail after visiting the historical site. The views from the hike are breathtaking.
Plan to pack a lunch and snorkel Honaunau, Two Step, to check out the fish who love swimming in the coral. It is one of the more popular snorkeling spots on the west side of the island so be prepared for busy.
